Bozhentsi was declared an architectural and historical reserve in 1964 to protect its heritage. Many preserved houses show ornate wood-carved ceilings and stone-plate roofs typical of the era. Some houses served dual roles: animals on the ground floor and living spaces above. Workshops for wax pressing, weaving and crafting were common sources of livelihood. Local culture remains alive through festivals, art events and plein air painting each year.
